For its next act, the NMD converses R1 calls upon a clean and simple grey outfit, but adds a never-before-seen diagonal pattern to its midsole with stripes that continue to get thicker as the graphic begins to wrap around the model's heel. Completed by a set of grainy bumpers atop its stark white Boost-laden midsole, Three Stripes enthusiasts can have this new NMD R1 from select adidas houses right now. We've already seen the insanely popular adidas NMD release in an all "Solar Red" colorway this past September, but now adidas Originals is back with an alternate option for those of you that missed out. Unfortunately, this adidas NMD R1 doesn't feature the colorized Boost found in its predecessor nor does it utilize Primeknit, but for a general release, this is one of the best NMD options we've seen yet.
While a traditional ventilated mesh comprises the side panels, the rest of the heel and toecap get a bolstered synthetic leather in a matching grey shade to add a lifestyle twist to the must-have model. A full-length Boost cushion system rounds out the midsole for that signature comfort we've all come to know and love in regards to the adidas NMD R1. With the substantial decrease in excitement surrounding adidas' converses high tops groundbreaking NMD franchise, it is important that the Three Stripes continue innovating to refresh the classic look. We have seen new iterations the likes of the City Sock, and the Racer in the past, but now adidas is bringing a slightly revised look to the NMD R1 for the Summer.
adidas goes for an alarming look by adding a caution-tape yellow across the mesh upper, roll guards, and heel tab, cdg converse while a matte silver finish can be seen on the three-stripes overlay as well as the trefoil branding on the tongue. The bold primary color can also be seen on the medial side of the outsole, adding a refreshing contrast to the standard white Boost midsole. This latest adidas NMD R1 is set to drop soon on and select retailers. adidas NMD skips out on the woven Primeknit for a bolstered breathable mesh featuring simple, understated monochromatic black finish. The three stripe branding on the side panels is nearly camouflaged through a matching shade while the traditional "The Brand With The Three-Stripes" wordmark lands on the heel tab in a contrasting white font.
We've seen camouflage patterns subtly update the NMD series before, and today we get to see a return to the "Glitch" aesthetic with December's adidas NMD converse platform R1 Glitch Camo offering exclusively for women. The adidas NMD continues to be one of the most sought after lifestyle models on the market, and for good reason. The simple yet sleek design pays homage to some of the most iconic and unique retro running models in adidas' vast archives, and the upper has given us plenty of options whether it be Primeknit, mesh, or the casually-minded City Sock. Today we get a look at the new adidas NMD R1 "Georgetown" colorway. Sure, the Hoyas might be a Jumpman school, but the combination of Dark Grey and Collegiate Navy should definitely bring memories of the legendary collegiate basketball program.
Among the special in-line makeups of the ever-popular adidas NMD R1, few pairs boast the esteem of the "Japan" series a new iteration of which is now set to release soon, in both black and olive. From the lateral side, this adidas NMD appears almost identical to past drops, using an tonal mesh and embellishing the forefoot brick with Japanese characters. However, if you peek at the heel you'll notice a contrasting stripe. If you follow that stripe around to the medial side, you'll find this NMD is totally different from the other "Japan" variants: a deluge of text adorns the entire rear half of the Boost midsole, and the band continues its path as well, coming to rest just by the midfoot. Further detailing is provided by the embellished heel tab, and each look is completed with a black outsole.
In the world of sneakers today, "less is more" is an adage that most brands choose to gleefully ignore when it comes to their branding. Nike has doused everything from the Air Max 1 to the Air Force 1 in bold logos and text graphic hits and the Three Stripes is not far behind, recently unveiling a NMD R1 complete with extra branded platform converse embellishments. The shoe starts off simple, with a tonal black upper, black bricks, and white midsole making for a classic look. However, a sizable adidas logo hit is slapped directly across the midfoot's three stripe logo, and a repeating logo print also appears across the black laces. The timing is somewhat funny, as it's blatantly obvious that Nike has been putting a great effort into their experimental branding but as logo-centric designs are of the hottest trends in footwear currently, you can't really blame the Trefoil Brand for wanting to snag a piece of the action as well. |
